We drove just over 3 hours to check some places out for potential investigating that we have had on our list for quite some time but it just seems like that day was cursed for some reason. Everything was going wrong, We wanted to explore three locations that day and unfortunately got denied on each one! Homelands hospital is an ex TB hospital and has been closed for many years. The police train there attack dogs on these grounds and the place is basically rigged up with PIR sensors and many other devices. Having a chilled walk around the hospital it was quite apparent that we was not going to enter the building without getting permission just in case we did end up in trouble with the ol bill!

HISTORY:
Homelands Hospital opened in 1903 and was originally a fever hospital, an early form of infectious disease hospital.
This explains the somewhat isolated position of the complex.
It was believed at the time that the best way to treat diseases such as tuberculosis,
typhus and smallpox was to move sufferers away from others to a more rural site where
fresh air would be the best form of therapy.

The building have had some later additions and alterations, however,
the style and quality of the buildings are typical of that used for municipal buildings of the era.
The majority of period features within the buildings have either been lost or
covered by modern surface finishes, though some period features remain.

The hospital closed in December 2004 and the site is for sale for redevelopment.
