Abandoned LAKE SHAWNEE AMUSEMENT PARK - The 'Scariest Place on Earth'

We've sat on this eerie footage for too long. IT IS TIME. The abandoned Lake Shawnee Amusement Park is a place of infamous paranormal activity and centuries of tragic history. From Scariest Places on Earth to The Dead Files, you've seen it featured on the Travel Channel, Syfy and others for years. The haunting vibe and unnerving scenery alone lives up to the hype.

The amusement park was not the first iteration of land use here, nor were the Clay family settlers. The Indigenous Shawnee tribe in what was to become Mercer County, West Virginia had likely suffered a pandemic or wave of disease brought on by contact with Europeans, and until an archaeological survey was conducted on the property in the 1990's, no one knew the extent of the Indigenous burials on the land. The projected number of burials has been exaggerated, but they do consist of mostly young and elderly people, indicating the prevalence of a disease that effected the weaker members of the society. Didn't know Amy had a Masters of Science in archaeology? Oh snap.
