The building opened in 1929 as a Miners Welfare Hall for South Pelaw Colliery. After the closure of South Pelaw Colliery in 1964, the hall became a community centre and remains so today.

As we had interesting activity during the Lone Vigil we decided to use our Ouija Table up on the stage. A male presence made himself known and noises were heard at the back of the room. A team leader had to check the doors on the lower level as the alarm was going off but everyone was upstairs on the stage.

We seem to have caught some kind of response on our Dictaphone as we used the Ouija Table but are unable to make out what is being said.
