The Parish Church at Earsdon was built 1836-1837, on the site of a much earlier 13th century church. The church was designed by John & Benjamin Green, and was consecrated on the 12th of October 1837. In the churchyard are buried 159 of the 204 miners who died in the disaster at Hartley Colliery in 1862. There is a memorial to the miners lost in the disaster in the churchyard. The Church is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
