In the 1840's Kit Carson accompanied an explorer named Fremont though the sierras it was a brutal scenario with allot of snow and food was scarce. However during that exploration they mapped out the pass and many of the scenic locations you see in our expeditions. Kit Carson came back in later years to carve his name onto a tree something I have also done up at Lake Margaret in 2013. Snowshoe Thompson who resided in one of the first settlements in NV called Genoa used massive skis to traverse the sierras with no weapon just a pure survivalist to deliver mail, supplies to local towns and conduct rescues never accepting one red cent. Both men in my opinions are true explorers I try to follow in their footsteps in my opinion these were great men and these historic monuments are a remembrance of them.
