Once the western-most fort on the frontier, Fort Washita was an asset to the Union. That is, until, the Civil War. Word had gotten around that the Confederate Army was on its way to overtake the fort. Union then abandoned the site just days before the confederate soldiers arrived. From this point forward, the Fort served the confederates. Do the spirits of soldiers still inhabit the Fort Today? Does the legend of Aunt Jane hold any basis?
