Have you ever witnessed something unexplainable? Ever felt the eyes or hands of some unseen force upon you? Ever had strange events shatter your once normal life? This phenomenon can be classified as an "Anomaly" and the mystery surrounding these bizarre occurrences are what the show "Anomaly" is all about.

We here at the Anomaly team headquarters have set up our base of operations on the Treasure Coast of South Florida, home to a highly active and growing paranormal hub.
Our primary mission is to investigate known hauntings, possessions and urban legends- and collaborate with local paranormal teams to find out the true cause of the disturbance. We then pool all of our collective resources, decide on a location to investigate and begin deep research into the history of the Anomaly.

Our teams spend the night collecting data through various scientific instruments and then analyze the evidence. Each investigation will attempt to unveil the boundary between our world and the metaphysical universe that lies beyond.
In paranormal lingo, Anomaly seeks to obtain preternatural evidence of the
Metaphysical world.

Legend of the Devil's Tree

Here in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, there's an urban legend about a resident evil tree. The park where the old oak looms over blood-stained trails today- is named Oak Hammock- and the locals speak of bizarre Anomalies which still occur here.

In fact, accordingly to sites like Weird Florida and The Grim Society, the entire 49 acres are intensely haunted, where chilling screams and unexplained cold spots along the trail give way to outright terror! But as our teams' investigative work will soon uncover, there is much more to this urban legend than even the locals know about.

Folks, let me tell ya...we couldn't make this stuff up if we tried. In this case the facts are much stranger than any fiction.

Deputy Killer

It all started in the early 1970's, when a lunatic killer cop began his carnal rampage of lust and slaughter all up and down the South Florida Atlantic seaboard. When he was finally caught and convicted in 1973, the papers here called him the Deputy Killer and The Sex Beast. This was before the term serial killer had even been coined and yet somehow, this lesser known "Devil" has managed to stay under the national radar of top killers, escaping the popular press even as his probable total confirmed
kills is somewhere upwards of 100-200 young women! Ted Bundy, better watch out!

Even to this day, many do not know the name of Gerard John Schaefer, though his acts and the writings outlining the details of his morbid kills may be some of the most gruesome collection of sadistic crimes ever to be committed on record.

In 1977 two fisherman found the remains of two of Shaefer's victims, once bound and hung from the Devil's Tree, shallow buried below a patch of scrub palm. The legend thus began when the City of Port Saint Lucie decided to cut the infamous tree down. A tree-cutting crew could not bring the mighty oak down because their chainsaws simply stopped working every time they got near the tree. A two-man band saw had similar results- its teeth fell out. The city threw their hands up and announced that the surrounding oak hammock would become a park and be a protected preserve.

The legend grew in the 1990's as Satanic worshiping and foul play brought the area under constant watch by the police department. In 1995 a local priest performed an exorcism on the tree, even nailing a cross to its trunk. Since then, bizarre deaths surround the park and quite a few suicides plague the growing legend of a tree that draws evil to it.
