This steam boiler and a few remnants are all that remains of the Sierra Nevada Wood and Lumber Company. Two famous investigators were involved with many of the saw mills including this one including Marlette and Walter Hobart. At one time over 200 saw mills graced this area harnessing the creeks, flumes and timber in the area. Just a short distance away they called this area saw mill canyon all of them gone accept this remnant from the 1870's which is a reminder of the lumbering industry that boomed here. The boiler might be rusted or look like a submarine but this truly is a piece of early saw mill history!
