The Wheeler Sheep Camp was established at the northern end of the flat after More Station and Ranch faded away. The Wheeler Sheep Company based out of Reno was one of the most prominent in the the region. During the warmer months this camp was operated by the John Martin Gallues and his brother Felix migrates from Spain Basque country! The site had a cabin, barn, well, corral, brick oven, tent camp for sheepherders, shed, bath house, chicken coops and a spring box. Baking bed and stews in the brick oven was a way of life on this ranch. Today the oven can be reserved for those interested in baking some bread in this pure place full of nature. Plentiful water, food and the lush flat provided the ranchers with everything they need. Basque herding was not uncommon in the high sierra meadows during the warmer months. Today not much remains there are a few claw tubs, fence post, wood pylons and the oven but the rest of the ranch is long gone.
