At one time this was nearly the heart of a beast! A sea that rose throughout Nevada even covering parts of Northern California to Southern Oregon. Today very little is left of the sea minus a few wetlands and this dammed off lake from 1911. This sea was a place where red haired giants lived off off and at one time creatures the size of school buses swam along its shores. When the sea vanished then came man this basin tells of a tragic tale one with rape, murder, burning, raids, battle and greed. Today somewhere out there in front of us is the site where men have lied on this ground taking their last breath this site saddens me greatly. The land you see before is is tainted perhaps even cursed as some would theorize. Overland Station 150 was considered to be one of the finest ones of its kind as once Mark Twain spent the night here. Williams Station had a hotel, general store, corral, stage coach stop, black smith and even a saloon. It was rebuilt many times ending up with its final name called Honey Lake Smiths Station before eventually water would consume it completely and the site would be lost to mankind till now! What once was from sea to shining sea is now a dark cesspool where men were burned, killed, women were murdered and eventually the Paiute tribe who had been here for thousands of years was forced off there lands!
