This Chinese Cemetery within Lovelock is slowing being revitalized as it spend many years consumed by sage brush and was nearly lost to history. This burial ground is all that remains of Chinatown which begin in the 1880's within the Lovelock area. The Chinese came to the region to lay down the tracks for the railroad while others labored in the mines. They were not valued, appreciated and more then often burial grounds like these were outside the city limits. Work is being done to restore the cemetery such as the removal of brush and vases placed on each grave. When the Chinese left the area in the 1930's many of them went back to China exhuming their loved ones graves here. Despite recent renovations its still in very deplorable condition such as broken beer bottles, shattered graves along a chain link fence, downed fencing and broken glass. Our goal is to help preserve this cultural site so we welcome all of you to enjoy this brief walk through.
