A haunting story is about a gruesome murder that took place in December, 1916 in the parish of St. Michael, Barbados. A man called Mr. James Bailey brutally murdered his common-law wife Millie (Millicent Gittens) who was a live-in maid with a family in Fitts Village, St. James. When questioned by the police, Bailey claimed that she had left him and gone to Brazil. Her badly-cut body was later discovered in a well in. Bailey was found guilty after a trial that attracted much public interest.
