Jarrod was looking through the slats of the fence on the backside of the fort when we came face to face with a family of deer. Their was two fawns, doe and a buck. We believe they stay behind the fort during the day for the shade and the thriving fruit trees found here. Anytime you drive past the fort at night you will see nearly a dozen deer just grazing at the entrance wildlife here is very abundant considering Genoa is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras.
