The first person buried within this cemetery was Jessica Dunn in 1864 around the same time that the settlement of Crystal Peak formed. Prior to that in 1860 it was a stage stop and trading post known as O'Neils Crossing which boasted a log bridge along a wagon road that crossed the Truckee River. Eventually this milling town was the terminus for the Central Pacific Railroad where lumber was timbered to be used for railroad ties. Legend has it before the cemetery came to be this was an old Indian burial ground and there is even a Chinese section to the cemetery but both remain unmarked as well as hidden. Eventually the town of Verdi came to be after Crystal Peak vanished after the railroad was built. Verdi was a mining and lumber community which was booming till about the 1920's when a fire swept through the area and the area was over lumbered. The cemetery is really all that remains of Crystal Peak rumor as it some foundations still remain in the woods. In this short clip ill take you on Main Street of Verdi will cross a steel bridge over the Truckee River then eventually explore this snowy scenic cemetery where you will see high EMF Gauss Readings. Will wrap up in the clip at the Sasquatch Tavern and playing air hockey at the Boomtown Fun Center.
