Orlando Police tweeted, "Shooting at Pulse Nightclub on S Orange. Multiple injuries. Stay away from area." Pulse Nightclub bills itself on its website as "Orlando's Premier Gay Night Club."

Orlando Police have tweeted that there have been multiple injuries in the shooting. Authorities have also warned the public to stay away from the area.

The New York Daily News has reported that one witness saw "at least two assailants open fire with what sounded like a semi-automatic firearm inside the nightclub and outside the south Orlando venue from a vehicle."

The man, Anthony Torres, told the Daily News: "We were just leaving the club and we started hearing the shots".

"Everyone was running and screaming."

Afterwards, Torres reportedly returned to the club and saw medics putting a number of victis into an ambulance with more victims laid out on the parking lot near the club. A number of people have reportedly been shot at a night club in Orlando, Florida. There are also reports suggesting at least one suspect is barricaded inside, according to a reporter from local station WESH.
A message on a Facebook account for the Pulse club in Orlando posted "Everyone get out of pulse and keep running" approximately an hour ago.
Emergency vehicles have descended on the area of the Florida city, as patrons of the club have posted frantic warnings online.
