At one time The Best & Belcher Mine paid its miners higher then any other mining operations in the world. This tour takes you 52' underground and 300' back into the hillside behind the saloon which was at one time the old bank. On this tour you will see some glowing rocks and hear a few stone cold facts about this mine which was part of the Big Bonanza which is how the show had gotten its name. The mine proved less profitable then others in the Comstock but the real gold was in giving tours to the public. So if you happen to be at the Ponderosa pay for a tour as the funding does go towards the preservation of this great place and so this is a small clip of my experience at The Belcher which turned out to be allot of fun, laughs and full of history. Men did die in The Belcher its quite possible they still haunt the mine and the saloon above it as its been noted.
