Our journey would take us eastbound deep into the Tahoe National Forest which follows Sagehen Creek. The trail tends to follow the meandering creek for a couple miles through Firs Jeffery Pines, lodge Poles and Cedars. Eventually we will hike past an old beaver pond and follow an old rail bed. You can hear birds chirping as in the early morning nature takes hold of this remote gem. Our goal was to follow the creek to a vast open series of meadows and eventually make our way to the very shores of the monolithic Stampede Reservoir. Its early Spring a crisp morning were just enjoying our adventure in hopes of seeking out Bigfoot and fresh tracks. There is not allot of scenery the first part of the hike your very secluded in the forest working your way towards the meadows. At one time this area was lumbered for its trees today the forest is finally recovering. Its very easy to lost the trail however its worth explore the woods if your looking for history or nature. This very trail can take you to some of the rarest wild flowers found within the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The trail resides at an elevation of about 6,000'.
