In the 1800's going into the earlier 1900's the area was used for lumbering to build up towns like Markleeville, Woodfords or even be shipped as far as Virginia Cities Comstock. Much of the forest has been lumbered while much of it is recovering many stumps and fallen trees are found in this portion of the journey.
