A visit to a very remote country church dedicated to Charles 1st of England. An unusual dedication, `King Charles the Martyr`, and particularly so as this former ruined 14th century church was re-built and dedicated during the English Civil War where Charles was executed by the Parliamentarians. An interesting history awaits the viewer.
NOTE: When discussing the medieval walled up arch I omitted to mention that it may have also been an infilled niche to a saint.
One church discovered such a niche, and mixed in with the rubble was the saint herself. But here it is more than likely to have been empty as the medieval church was a ruin.
