The church was dedicated to St. Stephanus and after the Reduction of Groningen in 1594 passed from the Catholic church to Protestantism. The church is used for worship. The medieval Stephanus church was radically renovated in the mid-16th century. The church was extended with a choir and a flat ceiling replaced the vaults. The church tower dates from 1648. On the tower is a wind vane with an eagle. The first stone was laid on May 29, 1648 by Anna Maria Ulgers. The plaque on the Stephen's Church represents the coat of arms of the former municipality of Noorddijk. The stained glass windows show the arms of four church guardians. The church is depicted on one of the windows. The pulpit dates from 1840 and is made by A.C. Cramwinkel. The church has a 17th-century sacrificial block. In the cemetery there are some striking funeral monuments, a number of them with burial poetry
