Bishop James Long serves with the United States Old Catholic Church and is a leading authority on Demonology. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and was raised Roman Catholic. As young as Kindergarten, he remembers pointing to a priest at mass and telling his mother “I want to do what he does”. From that point on, his calling to serve as a priest grew stronger as the years progressed. He followed his dreams and joined the seminary. He first attended St. Meinrad College which closed unexpectedly; he then transferred and graduated from the prestigious Loyola University in Chicago.
He continued his priestly studies by joining Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois. It was during this time that James began working closely with his spiritual director. Because of his theological differences with the Roman Catholic Church, James felt that it was better to be ordained within the Independent Catholic Church. This decision was not an easy one, but it was a decision made out of respect for the Roman Catholic Church and his calling.
Over the years, Bishop Long has dedicated his life to counseling & has assisted countless people throughout the United States with Spiritual guidance. This journey also includes consulting families, occasionally leading him to experience & document all forms of paranormal activity. Bishop Long has become a seasoned demonologist and has performed 27 Exorcists to date.
Bishop Long has been featured on many Paranormal television shows including The A&E Network, The History Channel, and most recently on Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventurers show. He has been interviewed and quoted in many outstanding publications including People Magazine, The Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post Newspaper.
Through this career of consulting, combined with his personal experiences, he realized the need for educating others. Bishop Long now offers courses in Demonology, Angelology, Paranormal Genealogy, and Paranormal Studies. With these classes, he properly gives the proper tools and teachings to truly help families in need. He is also a published author and his 2 books – “Through the Eyes of an Exorcist” and “The Clergy Handbook of Prayers” are great reference books for all readers.
He truly believes that Spiritual Direction is incredibly important in our society today because this ministry is a ministry of listening, discernment, and prayer in a confidential setting. Bishop lives by this rule each and every day.
