In this video we will be talking about Howard S. England and how he was mainly responsible for saving Fort Zachary Taylor by discovering some hidden Civil War Era treasurers at the fort.

Howard S. England, a civilian architect for the Navy, was born in Key West, Florida. After World War II, Fort Zachary Taylor, no longer of use to the army, was turned over to the U.S. Navy for maintenance and England, in 1968, took it upon himself to investigate it, with permission of the Navy, which could not afford to fund his interests. England spent ten years at it with his volunteers, termed "sandhogs", where they "uncovered the largest collection of Civil War armaments in the United States, including cannon, guns, a desalinization plant and thousands of cannon balls and projectiles", according to the Great Floridians program
