Is the Hollywood sign really Haunted? The ghost is believed to be Peg Entwistle who was an early-film starlet who leapt 45 feet to her death from the Hollywood Sign's "H" on September 16th in 1932. The rumored ghost stories began in the 1940's after the same "H" from which she jumped, mysteriously toppled over. According to legend, the ghost is typically seen on foggy nights and is accompanied by the smell of gardenias.
