Triangulation Is ALWAYS Key - March 24th 2021

The key to great 3 on 3 basketball is triangulation or should I say positioning. If your in the right position your going to make big plays happen as long as your able to make the bucket and if you don't that is okay because rebounds are a huge part of the game as well so if your players are positioned just right those will tip in your favor as well. Pay very close attention and you will see that we use triangulation often on the court. Ill take point for example putting up three pointers while each player gets in deep on both sides of the rim or I can go to my right or left many weapons of opportunity.

That way if their is to much pressure within the zone offense can pass back to the outside controlling the tempo. That allows the person outside of the circle to either take the three or he can go back inside the zone again and try to set up a better play which will decrease turning over the ball. Just as the two players in the zone are able to get the rebound off the three or they can pass to one another and go in for the lay up if that makes sense but its better to just watch and learn rather then explain it here.

The better you perfect triangulation the more your going to move the ball but also create big plays and it will make your opponent have to chase the ball. Often basketball is about who tires who out more its better to move the ball then to chase it! In this team scrimmage we put up eleven games again starting off with 21 and finishing with 21 all the other games in between are 11 with threes and twos.

We try to keep our scrimmages short that way nobody subs out for to long and we get plenty of play in. Although in the future when we put out some full court games they will be extended so we can work on our endurance and stamina. Right now these smaller games are great for practicing triangulation which during this practice was working like a well oiled machine. Lots of great long distance shots also a couple near half court three pointers definitely some good balling.

Things got a bit wild out there I see passion in our players they want to win they are stepping up defensively such as blocked shots, steals and often. I ended up re-injuring my thumb, took a hard shot to my knee trying to dive for a ball and made a crazy one handed Lord Of Darkness shot at least that is what my players called it haha. Its okay to take risk if you do not experiment a little you will never know what works an what doesn't. The player who risk a few passes and shots generally is always going to be on the winning side on that court.

Sometimes pain is inspiring or rather motivating because if your able to overcome it then your able to do anything when it comes to competition athletically. So whether your playing or your watching should inspire you and make you feel alive with some fast paced action ball. Everyone did once again a superior job and had a great time. Always fun to watch the team grow but to use these videos for training really a great perk that just comes with all of us.
