Volcano California - Part 3 "Commemorating Soldiers Gulch"

Mining began in Soldiers Gulch as one miner in a few days yielded 25lbs of gold while another made 8k in a matter of a day or two. Placer and Hydraulic mining was so intense that some of it destroyed the town and anything near this gulch. Early pioneers died for this gold which made way for future miners to pour into the area mining all its gold by 1868 leaving nothing left. I want to correct to errors the first one is that wood shack you see in the distance is the old jail not a miners shack and the second is that the observatory was built in 1860 by George Madeira not 1850s.
