The town of Volcano California boast one of the oldest Catholic Cemeteries in Amador County. With it being along the Emigrant trail it was a place where Catholics could bury their dead with 129 interments found here. It also is the site of the towns only Catholic Church which burnt twice and by 1931 the third and final one survived the other two who fell victim to smolder and ash.
