We want to thank you for taking the time to watch this documentary of the Beckwourth Cemetery followed by later in the video old town. Beckwourth boomed in the mid 1800's when a freed slave, trader, Indian chief, miner, scout and explorer James P. Beckwourth built a small trading post in town just across from this cemetery so that pioneers could stock up to supply there wagons and barter. This video will give our viewers a look into some local history at one of California's historic ranching and lumbering towns in the Sierra Nevada mountains during the gold rush days when it all begin. Will start off on a crisp fall morning exploring a hillside of prominent pioneers who utilized the pass and settled in the area all the way to exploring some old homesteads back when Beckwourth experienced its boom.
