The entry at #1 on the list is truly the most mysterious of all of these creatures, because quite simply, no one knows exactly WHAT it is. Back in 2003 marine researchers tagged a 9ft great white shark with a tracker, only to find the tracker washed up on shore a few months later.
When they checked the device they found that the 9ft Great White Shark they had tagged just months ago had actually been eaten and digested by something. Researchers were baffled because the tracker showed that the creature that had eaten the great white shark had a body temperature that was too low for a killer whale, but too high for it to be another shark.

Nearly 15 years later, the prevailing theory is that the 9ft great white shark was actually eaten by another super-massive cannibalistic great white shark, which sounds like the title of a Sci-Fi channel movie. But no one knows for certain just WHAT gigantic creature might have eaten that 9ft shark.
