The 6th Precinct was right in the middle of the 1967 riots in Detroit. The National Guard exchanged gunfire with snipers on the roof of the schools across the street. The front desk, in the Arraignment Room, still has bullet holes in it. The building was vacant for a very long time until the owner Ed Steele purchased it.
