A recent image snapped on google moon, claiming to show an 'alien' figure, has been debunked by NASA. Theories on what the mysterious figure could be, ranged from shadows cast by a nearby boulder, to an ancient alien statue placed on the lunar surface.

The images used to create the lunar surface for Google moon, come from the NASA archives.

Noah Petro, a deputy project scientist for the Lunar Renaissance Orbiter mission, said the image appears to be from Apollo 15, NASA’s manned mission to the moon in 1971. A current LROC image of the same location, doesn’t show anything that would cause that pattern on the ground.

Petro says there is no nearby mountain or boulder that would cast the shadow.

My best guess is that its dust, an eyelash or scratch on the negative. Remember, this was in the pre-digital days when all sorts of nasty things could happen to film.

The anomolie is estimated to be 460 feet in height, this rules out that the object is an alien being of some kind. If its not a hair or scratch on the negative as nasa suggest, then the only thing it could possibly be, is a statue.
