Black Chasm Caverns Into The Abyss ::A Fathers Day Dream Come True::

What better way then to spend a Fathers Day exploring Black Chasm Cavern. The chasm was founded in the early 1850's when a group of gold miners lowered themselves down into it in search of gold. While they did not find any what they did find is that this was a cavern big enough for trees to grow inside. In the 1860's tours were given for a few gold flakes and the chasms entrance was widened with TNT which did cause some damage to the first room. In the 1970's Black Chasm was designated as a national landmark saving it from becoming an open mine pit for that Calaveras Blue Marble which is found everywhere within this cave system. In this video tour your going to see three of the eighteen chambers due to federal guidelines not much exploration has been done but what we do know is the chasm so far is 2 million years old, has five lakes and millions of Helictites aka Soda Straws. Most caverns around the world only have a few soda straws making Black Chasm very special. When we are done doing some cave exploring ill take you through a Zen Garden which was a hilly area above Black Chasm that miners used Hydraulic Mining at washing away the earth leaving behind spires and rock formations. As an additive bonus we will also go up the road to the historic town of Volcano where I will hike on foot in search of Indian Diggins which supposedly has a bottomless pit perhaps it connects with Black Chasm. More then likely Black Chasm Cavern has hundreds of chambers that go for miles nobody really knows but it is one of the finest caverns of the west and we bring it to you.
