In May 2001, Jonas Brihammar opened GhoSt Augustine at 123 St. George Street in the
historical quarters of St. Augustine. It’s the first paranormal shop ever in St. Augustine and
probably as well in Florida and the entire south. The main mission was and is to provide
outstanding equipment for ghost hunting as well as guided ghost tours and paranormal
investigations.
From the start the store carried the K2 EMF meter and on the Haunted St. Augustine
Paranormal Investigative tour (launched 2002) Dr. Harry Stafford noticed a strong correlation
between people claiming they get touched or anomalies in photos with the K2 meter spiking
erratically. From 2004 the meter was going to be taken out of production since it was made for
home safety checks of EMF levels and the market for a US made product had vanished –
outcompeted by cheaper imports. Jonas convinced K-II Enterprises to keep on making it for
GhoSt Augustine and for the paranormal market and committed to purchasing the next
production run of 2,500 meters. That kept the meter going and later it became a legendary
instrument for the paranormal after its fame went through the roof on its premiere on national
television during the Sharon Tate house episode of the Ghost Hunters that aired in mid July
2007.
GhoSt Augustine provides all kinds of ghost tours and paranormal adventures in St. Augustine
including investigations of their very own haunted house – the Dixie House.

JASON HAWES was drawn to the paranormal because of a personal experience at the age of 18. The experience changed him from a “total nonbeliever” into a believer and challenged his Catholic upbringing. He started researching the paranormal in order to understand more about it and about his experience, the details of which have remained private.

Jason formed Rhode Island Paranormal in 1990 and after meeting Grant Wilson, changed its name to The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). TAPS attracted an increasing number of requests for investigations and benefited from media publicity. The work and attention were instrumental in the selection of TAPS for the SciFi channel’s reality series, Ghost Hunters, which debuted in 2004 and became the flagship show of the Syfy Channel which made it one of the top watched channels on cable. He became a co-producer of the show which ended its initial run after its eleventh season on October 26, 2016.

Since then, Jason has produced and starred in the Ghost Nation series on Travel Channel and the reboot of Ghost Hunters on Discovery +.

Jason has now teamed with J.V. Johnson for a new YouTube paranormal series that emphasizes the grass roots of paranormal investigation.
