In January 2023, The Paranormal Roadtrippers went to Cape Disappointment (Washington) to investigate the haunted lighthouse keeper's residence by North Head Lighthouse. The ghost hunting team took a retro approach and tried old-school research (with a modern take) to see if the spirits would respond .... and they did!

Viewer and subscriber feedback
Thanks to everyone that's commented on previous documentaries. I (Jake) have removed background music and sound FX from the ghost hunts. You will hear them as they were recorded. I appreciate your feedback and edited this documentary with that in mind. The Titles section has a lot of FX, but that's just for mood. Once you go past that, the background section, transition titles and end credits have some FX and music. None of the ghost hunting segments have it. Please continue with your feedback. We are listening.

About the paranormal investigation tests
For this ghost hunt, we wanted to try something different, so we looked into the past ghost hunting methods to see how we could update them. That led to The North Head Technique, a modern take on the seance.

The North Head Technique (Named after the lighthouse)
Ideally, this method has 3-5 people create a positive energy environment to help spirits manifest. It looks like a seance, but there are some key differences. There is no medium. The team uses ITC devices (spirit boxes used as part of The Estes Method and an Ovilus) and EMF detectors to speak for the ghosts. Next, the person speaking for the spirits is using The Estes Method AND holding other team members hands. Normally, the Estes Method doesn't have contact with the questioners. We believe this helps ground the speaker, and you can have longer investigation sessions.

Telegraphy Test
This idea came from investigator, Rachel Brevik. She noticed there was a telegraphy station next to the lighthouse keeper's residence, so someone had to send and receive Morse Code. With all the shipwrecks in the area, spirits may still try to communicate with it. We found telegraphy helped the team contact spirits.

Ouija Board Session
This is a complete change in protocol. We'd never use one on an investigation, but this was a unique situation. Paranormal researchers, Melissa and Rachel, may have made contact with a ghost. But it was Mike Morin, using live-listening, who captured more messages on his audio recorder. It seems other spirits like to talk to the investigators versus moving a planchette.

The Estes Method
This was a simple test geared to contacting Alexander Pesonen, the first keeper at North Head Lighthouse. He may have possessed an investigator on a popular ghost hunting show. They didn't happen to us, but Mike encountered a flirty spirit.

Credits
This ghost hunting documentary features Mike Morin, Rachel Brevik, Melissa Becker and Amy Beal as investigators. Jacob Rice documented the ghost hunting and edited it. It was filmed at the North Head Lighthouse LK2 rental property in January 2023. You can find it at the Cape Disappointment State Park near Iwaco, Washington.
