(Ear Phones and Volume High) Castle Hill Woods was linked to the old Gainsborough Castle in the area of what is now Gainsborough Old Hall. In its gentry days, hunting, took place there. The gentry dogs that followed those on horse back were often King Charles Spaniels. Being only a mile to the River Trent many underground area entrances throughout Gainsborough have been found, leading from the River as far as the Old Hall (Where the Castle once stood). These underground tunnels are thought to have been used by smugglers. Castle Hill Woods at times became the hiding ground for outlaws. A few members of our team decided to do a general look at Castle Hill Woods because of many on going sightings being reported there. Apparitions of figures in 17th century clothing, of ghostly dogs are common reports. Another more sinister reporting makes reference to a large dark figure that has been seen going down on all fours and chasing people there. We have interviewed five separate groups of people, of which two recall this being whatever it may be, chasing them outside of the woods. When entering the the woods, all batteries drained, despite being fully charged. A small flash light, a digital recorder and two mobile phones worked for a while but even these died very quickly. The intention was not do so a full investigation but to access the area for an over night stay. This recording is only part of it. The batteries on this recorder died after around 14 minutes. Another was used, and what was picked up then is still being gone through. However at one point, the reported being was seen, only unlike the reports, it began on all fours and stood upright with human posture. Whatever this was its eyes were fiery red.Needless to say, this did course panic, but this is in a different area of the woods and not on this part of the recording. When going through this footage, there are EVP;s and whilst the reports tainted an expected scare factor on this, the evp's show lost souls, seeking help. In the late 90's a child was killed, riding his bike down what is now called "Death Hill". The boy's neck was embedded in branch and wire. His choked plea for help in this recording cut to the heart. EVP's are low and fast in raw form. Going through them, they were amplified and to check for what is said, they were slowed down, but the slowing was removed to normal speed once what was being said was clearer. You will need volume up and ear phones with this one. If you cannot hear something, then take the video back and listen again. They are amplified, it was windy at times there. The Team are going back there, hopefully more prepared for battery drainage. Hopefully when the full Investigation of the area is complete, we can bring you something better.
