Sometimes there are strange things that can affect how we as people perceive reality. Usually these aberrations or anomalies are referred to as some kind of glitch in the matrix. That is to say we see something in our reality that isn't just a little weird; but, it is down right creepy and definitely out of place.

And in this age of the internet especially on forums such as Reddit, there is now a whole sub-genre dedicated to glitch in the matrix stories. Some times this includes seeing the same person again and again doing the exact same thing. It's like the person or what is being viewed is on some kind of loop like an animated GIF. Other can seem like a parallel universe or time slip.
