This was Rumbo,In 1979, Daryl Dragon of Captain & Tennille fame, built this 10,000 square foot, three room studio in a quiet town northwest of Hollywood called Canoga Park, California. At the time, Captain & Tennille were at the peak of their fame and the studio became very successful with not only their recordings but other artists including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, KISS, Celine Dion, Paula Abdul, Stone Temple Pilots and many others. Perhaps the most notable album ever made here was Guns N’ Roses’ landmark disc “Appetite For Destruction.” Recorded here in 1987, producer Mike Clink chose this studio because of it’s location being away from Hollywood and all the temptations that the band might encounter. The rest is history as the album made the group international superstars on the way to selling 18 million records and almost singlehandedly guaranteeing their spot in the Rock n’ Roll Hall Of Fame.

By 2003, due to the changing nature of the music business, Dragon sold Rumbo Recorders. Today the building still stands and pretty much looks the same. It is now called Metronome Studio and they still do recordings as well as special events like wedding receptions, Bar Mitzvahs, parties, etc.
