Overlook Peak resides at over 8k high above the state Capitol of Nevada known as Carson City. The bounty for such a rugged climb is the ability to see landmarks such as as Jobs Peak, Slide Mountain, Pine Nut Range, Virginia Mountains, Washoe Lake, Eagle Valley etc etc. The climb is very rugged there are no trails and its fairly steep the entire way to the top. Along the way we will push through red brush, over a hidden creek and journey through the Toiyabe National Forest high above Carson City to our backs. The peak itself is very bare as it lacks foliage and tree growth. While we were up here the winds begin to intensify and you can see a storm coming on over the sierras. We had to work to get to this peak but its amazing how high up above Kings Canyon we are. If you wants this journey you can see its an entirely different world here and things are not as they seem. Even if it appears close its not this is a tedious hike and we would follow a similar path the ancients more then likely used to migrate over the sierras to the Lake Tahoe Basin. Not much has changed many men have looked up at this summit very few have stood on it however!
