*There are many versions of this Tale of Ticonderoga, and it's been told for well over a century now. From an oral story featuring the real Duncan Campbell to written works over the years and even told as far north as Quebec, this is a legend from long ago and it is not historically accurate. But then again, each legend begins on a kernel of truth, and this one's grown for over 200 years. What you can definitely count on as fact is every Pause Point and the history of the fort, as narrated in the first half of the video.
