Lincoln's Path to the Gettysburg Address
In this video we will highlight Abraham Lincoln in Gettysburg, and the path that he took to deliver the Gettysburg Address.
On November 19, 1863, almost 10,000 people gathered for the dedication of the Soldiers National Cemetery Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The main speaker at the event was professional orator of the time, Edward Everett. Out of respect of the presidency, Abraham Lincoln was invited late to come to the event (on November 2), and by surprise he accepted the invitation. After Everett's 2 hour long speech, Lincoln rose and delivered his 2 minute Gettysburg Address.
