Old Faces & Perpetual Incorrectness - 2/27/22

One reason playing at the MAC is difficult on a Sunday is that everyone wants to play pick-up ball and stroke there ego so not much team mentality. The place is just mobbed as soon as they open at 1pm so its hard to get even a court let along playing time once the mobs start showing up. I do not mind playing with younger adolescents but most of them have not matured enough to play with higher caliber teams which pass more often and only shoot when the shot is there. So it kind made it hard for us yesterday.

My old team from Sparks showed up to play and came up to us asking if we would play I was okay with that except for the fact that most of my friends could not make it out yesterday or others I hoop with. So we were shorthanded so really if my old team wants to hoop they are going to have to arrange it with me better then just showing up. Which is why we ended up moving to court C because two other teams I know showed up and pretty soon their was twenty guys on one court. That does not give me the playing time I need to get warmed up. Plus I was not going to put up with a pissing match nor even try not when teams are heavily uneven. I am not going to even waste my time and that's anytime I am at the MAC practicing against anyone. No less a shout-out to Jordan and Scott for being gentlemen on the court and trying to get some scrimmaging going!

But on this reel we have some minor shooting, followed by a couple full court games starting at 16:00, a couple games of 21 and a couple games of two on two so its a good mix of hooping. Honestly, I was not in a great mood to hoop yesterday I got a severe pinched nerve on the left side of my neck its happening more frequent and pieces of bone are cutting into my entire left side all the way down my arm it sucks. Plus my knee is giving me issues again the injection wore off and I hate my knee braces they are bulking which makes it hard to pivot so I did not wear it Sunday because I knew practice would be slow.

Their are some great shots made by our newest team member Luke he did well he is a hooper. I been coaching a long time and I watch all my players. He did the right things and I know from here out he is just going to improve because playing hoops is like riding a bike. You should always practice and make better decisions as time goes on when on that court that is why we do what we do. I wish everyone could have made it out but we had quite a few players out of town, dealing with work etc so it just did not pan out but that is okay most Sundays I prefer smaller games of 21 or a little three on three its just more chill. For my critics if you think I still do not have it think again check out the 55:57 timestamp a rebound I get then moving the ball to the key followed by an air shot while in motion sure beats cherry picking! I still much rather play football, hockey or lacrosse which are my main sports I play but hooping is still fun because of all the elements involved.

But then again I do not mind giving our viewers a good mix of hooping on our practice reels that way you can see various games, set ups, lines etc so I am just fine with that. If my old team ever happens to be down at the MAC next time where they can even up the teams and go without boasting over beating us with a new player and a couple kids I never met before let me know lol. I have plenty of matches on video of me winning plenty against all of them at one time or another just sayin so lets not go there! I offered them to go to a kid free court which I had the girl at the front desk save for me after the soccer match was over way ahead of time because previous Sundays were just getting to be to chaotic with other teams, kids, games going on etc.

People have egos larger then life and want to make everything about winning rather then just having a good time, hanging out and have the chance to play ball. A year ago some of us had to wear mask and we were not even allowed to play due to the pandemic so that is how I look at it! So old faces and new times indeed! But I know one thing I am not a quitter I played nearly blind last season ago and had more accuracy then any of my older teammates who would have to throw it up five times just to score one basket I think some of them it took ten times. But in practice I don't care and in games I am more then happy to land them all because accuracy Trumps over sloppiness! :) I mean last season I was blind and my other ten medical problems I still have they are not going away but I show, I play and I perform when I want to perform! That should inspire others to be better ballers and leaders when they step out onto that court!
