Join Josie, John and Jackie at an old unchanged prison that was last used in 1861. Apart from graffiti and a few visual items that have been installed, this prison is virtually as it was.

Back in its day, this "Bridewell" style prison was a place of extremely hard labour for very minor crimes and many prisoners had to work a treadmill for hours without even being allowed to talk, whistle or even look behind themselves. Failure to observe the "rules" would result in being held in the "Dark Cell" on extremely limited food, if any at all. Minor crimes, like stealing a chicken, may well have resulted in a 3 month sentence, possibly leading to deporting to Australia for repeat offenders.

We are unable to gain permission to perform an overnight investigation, so are limited to discreet daytime visits. But as always, have pleasure to bring you what we can from our far distant past.
