American Horror Story season 5, Hotel, took inspiration from the infamous Cecil Hotel located in downtown Los Angeles. This haunted hotel has gained a terrifying reputation for being one of the creepiest places to stay in the world due to it's dark history including the case of Elisa Lam, Elizabeth Short "The Black Dahlia", two serial killers that stayed temporarily at the Cecil Hotel during their crimes and many other creepy events. Ghost Adventures recently did a paranormal investigation here.
