In June 2018, I was invited to check out a house out in rural South Auckland with a dark and disturbing urban legend shrouding it. Whether true, or just fiction, the stories tell of an alleged witch that lived in the derelict house at the bottom end of bush clad farmland, that would lure men into her home, kill them and bury the bodies around the yard. The woman reportedly also died in the house. The house had become something of a young local persons hangout. People attracted to the stories would trek onto the land searching for this house of mystery and dark past.
The land owners were planning to demolish the house as it was becoming very unsafe, attracting unwanted attention and had already suffered vandalism and an arsonist's fire attempt which destroyed a third of the building. They are followers of our work, so asked if I'd like to come and have a look before they bulldozed it down.
