TILBURY - Story of a Tudor fort

Here is our most ambitious work to date, and covers the history of Tilbury fort in Essex. Regarded as the best preserved bastion (star shaped) fortification in Europe, it was built in the 17th century from earlier roots as a D shaped blockhouse gun platform, and was much improved by General Charles Gordon who was later killed defending Khartoum in the Sudan from the forces of the `Mad Mahdi`, Mohamed Ahmed.
The fort saw no direct military action other than the shooting down of a German airship in WW1.
The fort was decommissioned in 1950, and in the late 1980`s administration was taken over by English Heritage, who kindly allowed us to film private as well as public areas.
At the end of the documentary is a special paranormal section where we visit an `off public` 17th century building, known as the `Dead House`, and where human bodies were stored prior to removal from the fort and burial.
My special thanks to Kevin Diver (manager) at Tilbury Fort, without whose valuable assistance, this documentary would have not been possible.
Why not visit Tilbury Fort this weekend?

Also special thanks to Mick Coulter, who kindly assisted us with shooting the aerial footage throughout this documentary.
Incidentally, this documentary will be featured on tv by the Community Channel here in the UK in June.
