Top 10 Haunted Places Where Paranormal Phenomena Happened
Do you believe in ghosts? Do you believe there exists a spiritual plane where angry spirits exact their revenge on the people that disappointed them on earth?

If not, then you’ll find the dark history surrounding some of these places pretty hard to explain.

In fact, before we continue, we implore you to have an open mind...

Because believe it or not, life is haunted; so haunted that we’ve compiled ten horror-like places where paranormal phenomena takes place.

We bet you’ll freak out with our top pick because hey, it hits so close to home!
10. Hoia-Baciu Forest, Romania

Since the first time a military technician took a photo of an alleged UFO hovering above the Hoia-Baciu forest in 1968, the place has been marred with all sorts of paranormal activity.

Indeed, Hoia-Baciu isn’t your proverbial forest where you can go jogging or camping. It is believed to host a spiritual vortex that causes visitors to disappear….and where they disappear to is still unknown to this day.

According to witnesses who have survived the forests’ peculiarity, they claimed to have been zapped to another realm through a portal. Only to reappear feeling nauseated, spotting rashes, and becoming extremely anxious!

In fact, this place is believed to possess the same strange portal-like powers of the Bermuda triangle. And the eeriness of the thin, hollow trees doesn’t make maneuvering through this forest any easier. Yikes! I’d hate to get lost here...

9. Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Canada

What do you do when a town is literally on its deathbed and you want to revive it? Well, build a massive, state-of-the-art hotel, ofcourse!

That’s exactly what the owners of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel were aiming for when they built this massive, chateau-style hotel in 1888.

The idea was to boost tourism and increase train-ticket sales as tourists came to visit the Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park.

But truth be told, they got more than they bargained for. For more than a century, there have been numerous stories of ghost residents haunting the hotel.

One of the most famous legends is that of a bride who supposedly plummeted to her death from a stone staircase on the day of her wedding!

Another more recent ghost tale is that of Sam the bellmans. It is believed that Sam, who worked in the hotel until 1975, died and came back to haunt the place just for the heck of it.

On a lighter note, it is believed that Sam’s spirit loves to help people carry their bags before disappearing.

Whether these ghost stories are true or not; one thing’s for sure. The Gothic design of the building doesn’t lessen the horrific history!

8. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia,

A penitentiary; now that’s a great premise for a horror story, right? If that’s the case, then no place would be a perfect match than the castle-like Eastern State Penitentiary located in Philadelphia.

Built in 1829, the penitentiary was a first because it took the meaning of solitary confinement to a whole new level.

During the first few decades after its construction, the prisoners lived alone, ate alone, and exercised alone.

In fact, so reclusive was the institution that for a prisoner to leave his cell, a guard had to cover his head with a hood so that his face could not be seen by other inmates. How insane is that?

Thankfully, this torturous lifestyle of extreme solitary confinement was ended in 2013 due to overcrowding.

However, the extreme forms of punishment, such as chaining an inmate’s tongue to his wrists, continued for about 60 years before the institution was finally closed down in 1970.

Today, the site is a tourist attraction that welcomes thousands of visitors every year to attend its Halloween and museum celebrations.

Nevertheless, one can’t help but wonder what happened to the thousands of souls in the penitentiary who experienced insufferable torture at the hands of prison guards!

There have been numerous reports of pacing footsteps, shadowy figures, and disembodied laughter in the prison. Could these be the souls looking to exact their revenge?
