although most modern day scientist think that time travel is impossible, there are many people who claimed that they have traveled through time or gone to another dimension. These trips are often called time slips and you don't need some kind of a machine or computer program to go through a time slip.

in fact I have not heard of a single case of someone who traveled though tie or some kind of an alternate reality that used a machine. Most people who go through this experience can't remember how it happened but they know that they end up in some kind of alternate reality or some weird place that is very different from their home.
