Building work was completed at Whalley Abbey in 1440 for just under a hundred years the Monks were heard Chanting, singing, working and praying daily. Until in 1537 after Henry VIII's decision to close all the Catholic Monasteries the Abbey was closed and the last Abbot John Paslew was executed.

The paranormal reports from Whalley Abbey are that of the ghost of John Paslew, who has been seen & heard on many occasions, a white lady believed to be the ghost of a Nun that was mistreated and eventually murdered and finally the ghost of Ned King on horseback a highwayman who was close friends with Dick Turpin and was killed near the abbeys West Gatehouse while commiting one of his many crimes.

We thought that the Ghosts here were all residual but we were proven very wrong.
