In the story, Shammi Bhabhi is portrayed as a quiet and unsociable woman who lives alone in a large and dark flat. Her husband, Tutul Bhai, works in Dubai and visits the country twice a year. Despite their differences, they are not considered perfect couples. They also face the challenge of not being able to have children, which they keep private.

Shammi Bhabhi starts working at a kindergarten to pass her time and avoid being alone at home. However, one day she goes missing. Her relatives gather outside her flat and express concern over her whereabouts. It is revealed that she had gone to her sister's house in Chittagong, but her brother-in-law denies this and questions her disappearance.

Meanwhile, there is an issue with the neighboring building, where the residents throw garbage between the cracks, causing a foul smell. The police arrive and break into Shammi Bhabhi's flat, where a strong smell emanates. Inside, they find a decomposed body on the bed, later identified as Shammi Bhabhi.

The protagonist, along with Shammi Bhabhi's brother-in-law and a man named Kingshuk, enters the flat. The sight is horrifying, and the protagonist feels sick and goes outside. Kingshuk, who is known to be a bit eccentric, comforts the protagonist and then proceeds upstairs with him. The police questioned the doorman and discover CCTV footage of Shammi Bhabhi leaving the flat a week ago, despite her body being found inside the closed room.

This raises the question of who the body belongs to and what happened to Shammi Bhabhi. The story ends with the mystery unresolved.
