Daveytown begin in 1910 as a small hamlet when gold was being mined out of the Davey Mine. The family built a small five stamp mill to process the ore and in 1938 sold the mine to a company which formed the Mayday Mine also a ten stamp mill. The mill processed ore from many mining camps in the Awakening Mine District including the Alabama Mine. It brought in about 300k from its mine and 75k from its glory hole. While not much is known about Daveytown and being that its not as popular as some mining camps it definitely represents what Nevada stands for and all the adventure that comes with it. I will take you through a massive expanse between the Slumbering Hills and Santa Rosa Mountains on a very scenic muddy journey home on the range. Will pass a historic ranch along cattle grazing and eventually end up on a bluff overlooking remnants of Daveytown where ill take you to its mill, remnants of the past, collapsed mine entrance and an old homestead.
