When the Southern and Union Pacific merged the need for the Donner Summit Tunnels were needed no more in 1993. The Mount Judah tunnel named after Theodore Judah who was the chief engineer for the Donner Pass Tunnels. Today this tunnel and its line are very active. It was funny to see my sons nickname spray painted at the top of the tunnel and well this was sort of our mess around video before we had to make the long trek back to the truck. You can also see a season waterfall which is just raging along the edge of the summit.
